Dismissed as the “The Forgotten War,” Korea was actually one of America’s most significant conflicts. U.S. troops continue to serve in Korea along a demilitarized zone that remains the most heavily defended border in the world.
The Korean War triggered the build-up of U.S. forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and began American involvement in Vietnam.
This monument was dedicated 25 June 2010 and was attended by approximately 100 Korean Americans with their Methodist pastor and about 500 American veterans of the Korean Conflict. There is an Annual Commemoration on 25 June each year and is sponsored by the Korean War Veterans Association.
