This monument was installed by the National Organization of Purple Heart Chapters.
The 7 ‘Purple Heart” rose bushes are significant as they represent 7 August 1782. It was on that date that George Washington pinned the 1st medal on the colonial soldiers.
There is a plaque at the entrance and exit to the Memorial grounds that reads:
Dedicated to all Men and Women Wounded in all our Wars My stone is red for The blood they shed; The medal I bear Is my country’s way To show they care; If I could be seen By all mankind Maybe peace will Come in my lifetime.
