I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am from a military family. Every man in my family has served in the military. Due to the vast amount of military in my family, I will not be listing them here. I have been happily married for 35 years to my husband Ross Emil Myrehn, Sr. Ross is Navy Veteran and is currently an EMI Engineer for Aerospace Corporation. We have three children and two very handsome grandsons.
I have a Bachelor’s in Public Administration with a minor in Criminal Justice, a Master’s in Legal Studies and Juris Doctor. I was an Independent Paralegal since 1992 up to the time I started law school in 2015. During law school I volunteered at the Veteran’s Legal Clinic, and I also represented Veteran’s in the Post-Conviction Legal Clinic and at the Homeless campus in Phoenix, Arizona. I am hoping someday to see the Phoenix size Veteran’s Standdown to be here in Albuquerque.
During law school, I also volunteered to help with the Veteran Standdowns by providing legal help to Veterans. I was able to start the Post-Conviction Legal Clinic and was instrumental in bringing delayed justice to some Veterans.
Since moving to Albuquerque in 2019, I have continued to help Veterans in any way I can, including being a member of the NMVM board, helping with legal work and helping with resources. I have also volunteered in other capacities. I was a federal attorney with Health and Human Services at the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (HHS/OMHA). During that time, I volunteered to help with the Unaccompanied Children’s Detail for the southern border children in Houston, Texas and Pomona, California and in Philadelphia for the Afghan children. For the most part it was rewarding to see the children reunited with family and/or resettled in the United States.
In closing, I have done more free legal work than I have done paid legal work. I am looking forward to find ways to help Veteran’s in Albuquerque.
