At the place of The Call, The Homecoming can be seen far over toward the mountains, but there are many experiences to be had before coming home.
This entry place has a simple exhibit to explain the intention and history of the garden and a diagram to guide the visitor.
The Call can come from without or within: word of invasion or attack, a newspaper headline, a friend calling saying, ”Come on, sign up with me,” a draft notice, a way to pay for education, a way to “see the world,” or a response to “Uncle Sam wants You!”
For many, this is the first time away from home, and departure is mixed with excitement and apprehension; the last fishing trip with friends, a send-off party, goodbye to family. Life will never be the same.
